summer house rental In provence

A typical french village house, restored and full of character in the heart the village of Aups with its own private roof terrace for outside dining and sunbathing.

The house will be available to rent weekly from June until October.

The House

The house is composed of two double bedrooms, a bathroom, a kitchen, a large living area with a roof terrace; this area can also double up as an extra sleeping space for two. It is ideal for a family or a small group of friends.

The ancient facade hides a simple interior, decorated with traditional materials and thick stone walls which keep the house cool in the hot summer months.

The village of Aups

Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur

Aups is a medieval village of the Var department in the region of Provence. The village is situated in the first foothills of the Alps at 500m altitude in the beautiful and dramatic Parc Naturel Regional du Verdon, 60 km from the Mediterranean and 80 km from Alpine snow stations.

The region is celebrated for its warm Mediterranean climate, scenery and unspoilt historical monuments.

With a population of 2100, the village lives all year round. There are numerous shops, restaurants and cafes and unlike some of the smaller villages and towns in the region, cultural events run throughout the year.

The houses in the old centre of Aups date back to the 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, clustered inside the ancient medieval walls.

The streets tend to be long and narrow to provide shade in the summer months, with buildings in the typical Provencal pastel colours.

The Lac de St Croix and the Gorges du Verdon

The Gorges du Verdon is one of the largest and deepest canyons in Europe.

It was carved by the Verdon River, which flows for 15.5 miles and empties into the man-made Lac de Sainte-Croix. The limestone cliffs range in height throughout the canyon but soar, at times, to 0.4 miles, with spectacular views from the clifftops.

activities include spectacular viewpoints, the lavender fields of Valensole, local towns and villages, hiking, rock climbing, relaxing on the shore of Lac de Sainte-Croix and a multitude of water pursuits and extreme sports.

The Lake

The lake is a twenty minute drive from the village.

It is conspicuous by its distinctive bright turquoise colour and the summer water temperature is very agreeable. Some are beaches watched over by life guards for family swimming but there are more secluded areas if you want your own space.

We would be more than happy direct you to our favourite places and activities.
